On 21st April, our friend and colleague, David Smith, passed away suddenly at his home in Catford.

David Smith was a devoted volunteer, treasured friend and valued member of the N. S. Wibberley community. He played an integral part in our team, often working closely to help support our funeral administrations. When the company opened our first funeral home in 2019, David was in the branch almost every day, meeting families, assisting with funerals and generally being a helpful and devoted team member.

In addition to his volunteering work at N. S. Wibberley Funerals, David was also a very close friend with our company directors Rachael and Nick, and also with our adminsitrator June and her husband Rob. Together with David’s many friends and family, they are mourning his loss with much sadness. David spent his whole life worshiping and volunteering at St John’s Church in Catford, and so it is fitting that his funeral service will be held at St John’s on 30th May at 12:15pm.

On the death of David, our CEO Nick said:

David was a truly brilliant man. A kind and caring person, who never had an agenda, never brought any drama or angst, just gave his whole self for the betterment of his friends, and his local community. My wife Rachael and I are devastated to lose such a wonderful and funny friend. He worked tirelessly at any task he undertook, whether as a volunteer in our funeral homes, or as a churchwarden and later treasurer at St John’s Church, an actuary in many companies throughout his professional life, a carer for his mother before her death, a lifelong singer in his beloved church choir, and many other roles he fulfilled, David always gave his full attention and full care to help in the best way he could. He will be missed by many many people. Rachael and I will always be grateful to be able to call this inspirational man one of our truest and best friends.

All are welcome to join for David’s funeral service:
